Manchester City and Tottenham in Battle for Lautaro Rivero

Manchester City have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the chase for River Plate’s Lautaro Rivero, with the two clubs intending to start negotiations.

Earlier reports suggested that Spurs and Atlético Madrid were showing interest in the 21-year-old, with Tottenham sending scouts to watch him live in action.

According to El Intransigente, Manchester City, Juventus, and RB Leipzig have also joined the transfer race, with all clubs closely monitoring the centre-back’s situation.

River Plate are referring to Rivero's €100m release clause, and the interested clubs intend to start negotiations in January.

Rivero spent 18 months on loan at Central Córdoba before returning to his parent club last summer.

No official statement has been made by the clubs or the player.
