Junior Rowan Behan played the hero for Mount Anthony, drilling a 25-yard field goal with just 0.5 seconds remaining to lift the Patriots to a dramatic 9-7 victory over rival Brattleboro at Spinelli Field on senior night.
The clutch kick ensured the Elwell Trophy remains in Bennington, capping a night in which MAU did just enough to edge its rival.
Brattleboro looked poised to secure its first win of the fall for much of the fourth quarter.
The Bears took the lead early in the third on a 59-yard touchdown connection between quarterback Logan Casey and receiver Sean Cozza, answering a Mount Anthony scoring drive on the previous possession.
