Collingwood has thanked two 2023 premiership heroes who were not offered contracts for 2026.
The Collingwood Football Club would like to thank Mason Cox and Tom Mitchell after the pair were not offered contracts for 2026.
Cox joined the Club in 2015 from Oklahoma State University and became the first American to win an AFL Premiership in 2023. Since making his debut in the 2016 Anzac Day clash, the ruck has gone on to play a total of 139 games in 11 seasons.
Mitchell joined Collingwood in the 2022 AFL Trade Period from Hawthorn, after six years in the brown and gold, and a further five at Sydney. In his maiden year at the Pies, Mitchell played all 26 games, including the victorious 2023 AFL Grand Final, where he polled Norm Smith Medal votes.
With injury hampering the midfielder’s 2024 season, Mitchell returned to play consistent football in 2025, including four AFL outings where he averaged 23 disposals and six tackles.
Author's summary: Collingwood thanks Cox and Mitchell.
