The Gaza Strip, a 40km long and 11km wide region, is home to approximately 2.3 million people in an area of around 360 square kilometers, comparable to central Sydney.
The consequences of the Israel-Palestine war have been devastating, with the United Nations reporting over 67,000 Palestinian casualties and nearly 170,000 wounded, as well as 1,200 Israeli fatalities and 5,400 injuries since October 7, 2023.
Gaza has suffered significant destruction, with the United Nations estimating that 83% of all structures and housing units in Gaza City have been damaged.
