St. Croix Father Charged With Child Abuse

A man was arrested on child abuse charges stemming from an incident in February of this year.

According to police, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of a child being abused, and officers were dispatched to investigate the complaint.

They learned that Kareem George had allegedly used a length of PVC piping to assault his minor daughter in the name of discipline, leaving the child with visible injuries.

An arrest warrant was issued by the courts in early September, and George turned himself in on October 14, and was charged with simple assault and battery, child abuse as a crime of domestic violence, and disturbance of the peace.

It is reported that the incident occurred at the end of February, but the arrest was made several months later.

No comment from the authorities or the suspect was available.
