German Startup Introduces Recycled-Plastic Asphalt to Scotland
A road section in Motherwell is the site of the UK's first project using a high-performance asphalt additive made from recycled plastics.
In total, half a ton of EcoFlakes has been incorporated into the road's surface course, marking ecopals' maiden venture in the UK.
Conventional asphalt production relies on virgin polymers from crude oil, but EcoFlakes reduces this dependence, cutting CO₂ emissions by up to 20% while enhancing pavement performance.
