Rolex produces over 1.2 million watches a year, offering a wide range of timepieces to collect. However, it's a common misconception that discontinued Rolex watches instantly become rare.
Rolex doesn't actually discontinue watches very often. Sure they update a case or offer minor tweaks but, on the whole, timepieces in their catalogue tend to be around for a long time before they kick the bucket.
This means that just because a watch is no longer available, it doesn't necessarily mean it's rare. Author's note: Rare Rolexes are highly sought after.
