I am a week late to this topic because I was sharing my experiences of being in Iraq 20 years ago with the brave men and women of Georgia's 48th Brigade Combat Team.

Last week was National Newspaper Week, which holds personal significance for me. I have the best job in the world, getting to share my thoughts with you each week.

I've been doing this for almost three decades, making good friends with readers I hear from regularly, despite never meeting face-to-face. You've been with me through good times and bad, offering criticism when needed.
