Firefighters responded to a blaze inside the older sanctuary at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church on Wednesday evening after the church's alarm system was triggered.
According to the Cobb County Fire Department, crews arrived at the church and quickly brought the fire under control, with no injuries reported and no other buildings on the campus affected.
"We are incredibly grateful for the quick and skilled response of the Cobb County Fire Department and the Cobb County Police," said Senior Pastor Clay Smith. "Their professionalism and swift action kept everyone safe and contained the damage to the chapel.
Church officials stated that the fire began shortly before 9 p.m. and was contained to the chapel area.
