Great California ShakeOut at College of the Desert
The Great California ShakeOut is taking place today at 10:16 AM, with people across the Coachella Valley joining millions worldwide in this annual earthquake drill.
Although the ShakeOut now occurs in over 50 countries, it originated in California. The purpose of the ShakeOut is to help individuals and communities prepare for a major earthquake through practice and education.
College of the Desert is participating in today’s drill, with the Coachella Valley Disaster Preparedness Network serving as a key partner to coordinate the event on campus. They are also educating students on emergency safety and distributing free Go Bags filled with emergency supplies.
