Natalie Grabow, an 80-year-old grandmother, has become the oldest woman to finish the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.
Just 20 years ago, Grabow was learning to swim, but she has come a long way since then. At the age of 59, she decided to learn how to swim so she could participate in a triathlon.
“It was a big hurdle I had to overcome,” Grabow told NPR via email, “in order to do a triathlon.”
Grabow's determination and perseverance have made her an inspiration to many. She won her age group at the championship, a feat that is being hailed as a remarkable achievement.
