Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) from poorer homes are less likely to secure an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and access a special school place, according to a new study.
The Sutton Trust warns of a "double disadvantage" for these children, as poorer families are "less able to navigate the system" than more affluent parents.
