Suffolk Fire & Rescue Responds to Overnight Fire at Peanut Factory

Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a reported commercial structure fire in the 300 Block of Factory Street early Wednesday morning, October 15, 2026.

Emergency Communications was contacted at 4:51 a.m. and the first unit arrived on scene at 4:56 a.m. Engine 3 and Ladder 3 arrived first and reported a fire involving a silo containing peanut hulls.

Further investigation found an active fire in a hopper system located at the rear of the commercial building, which had extended into one tractor trailer. Firefighters worked closely with on-site maintenance technicians to bring the fire under control.
