A Sarasota man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison, plus 20 years of probation, for a staged shooting at Sarasota County paramedics in 2019.

The incident occurred after an automated 911 "fall" alert on Goodrich Avenue. When paramedics arrived, residents stated that no one had called for assistance. As the paramedics returned to their ambulance, the man, identified as Tyran Young, opened fire, hitting the vehicle twice.
