Monks from Nepal Visit Otero County Prison's Buddhist Population

A group of Buddhist monks from Nepal recently visited inmates at the Otero County Prison Facility in Chaparral, New Mexico.

The monks, who are on a U.S. tour, met with inmates who practice Buddhism, discussing mindfulness, compassion, and inner peace.

The monks were accompanied by long-time religious volunteer Lim Kien, who has devoted more than eleven years to supporting the spiritual growth and wellbeing of the Buddhist community within the facility.

The visit was the monks' first to a U.S. prison, and they will be making several stops to share their teachings and promote understanding of Buddhist philosophy.
