The United States has unveiled an unmanned version of the Black Hawk helicopter, the S-70UAS U-Hawk, at the Association of the United States Army's AUSA 2025 show.
Thanks to the absence of a cab, the cargo area volume has increased by 25%. The U-Hawk features a loading platform with hinged doors in the front of the fuselage and uses the Matrix control system for crewless flight.
Sikorsky vice president Rich Benton emphasized that the manufacturer can quickly and on a large scale convert conventional helicopters into drones.
The U-Hawk can be used for various cargo transport and launch small drones. The development of the unmanned helicopter took just ten months.
