Man Dies After Being Run Over on Motorway
A man died late on Monday after being struck by a vehicle while walking along the motorway in the direction of Palma airport.
Paramedics who arrived at the scene were unable to save his life due to the severity of the impact. The Guardia Civil are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The tragic event occurred shortly after 11pm on the Ma-19. Several drivers contacted the emergency services (112) to report that a man was walking along the motorway and was in danger of being hit by passing vehicles.
Moments later, new witnesses called to report that the man had been run over, prompting the 112 control centre to mobilise emergency response teams to the location.
He was pronounced dead almost instantly as a result of the collision.
The Civil Guard has taken charge of the investigation into the incident.
