This week, our diverse community will be celebrating Diwali, a five-day 'festival of lights' observed by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and Buddhists.
Diwali commemorates the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance, honoring stories such as the return of Lord Rama and his wife Sita, as well as Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity.
To mark this occasion, we aim to empower our community with information on how Diwali and Hinduism have shaped contemporary medicine and the excellent healthcare provided by the NHS.
The festival solemnises various stories, most notably the return of Lord Rama and his wife Sita after defeating the demon king Ravana after 14 years in exile.
