Metropolis Foundation Starts Construction of Pediatric Psychiatry Hospital
The Metropolis Foundation has announced the start of construction on Romania's largest pediatric psychiatry hospital, valued at over EUR 16.5 million.
The new 3,900 sqm facility will be built within Bucharest's "Prof. Alexandru Obregia" Psychiatric Hospital and will include modern wards, medical offices, and therapy rooms.

- Social areas for children and teenagers
- A dedicated unit for treating substance addiction among adolescents
The initiative responds to a worsening pediatric mental health crisis in Romania, with common diagnoses including depression, self-harm, and autism.
This investment is not just about raising walls.
The number of children diagnosed with severe psychiatric disorders rose from 3,839 in 2018 to 5,647 in 2024.
