Minnesota has confirmed two more measles cases, bringing the total to 20, with 15 cases resulting from exposures within the United States, 4 imported cases, and 1 case with an unknown exposure.

According to the Minnesota Department of Health, 18 of the 20 measles cases in the state have been in children, including the two newly reported cases involving unvaccinated children in Ramsey and Hennepin counties.

The children likely contracted measles from an unvaccinated adult.

In contrast to last year's 70 reported cases, Minnesota had zero cases in 2023. Meanwhile, a large ongoing measles outbreak in Mexico has resulted in 22 deaths, with 4,879 confirmed cases reported through October 11.
