Islanders Matthew Schaefer Scores First NHL Goal vs. Capitals
During the New York Islanders’ home opener, Matthew Schaefer scored his first NHL goal. The 18-year-old defenseman achieved this milestone against the Washington Capitals.
Schaefer scored at 16:41 of the third period, cutting the deficit to 4-2. The goal stood after a review, despite Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery's challenge for a hand pass.
