“It was just so fun,” Ganatra said. “When you have Vanessa Bayer, everything’s gonna be funny, especially with Lindsay and Jamie involved. I really wanted to get the switch right, because that’s the magic of the movie. If you don’t buy that moment, everything falls apart.”

Ganatra described the film’s complex four-way body swap sequence as one of the most challenging she has ever directed.

“Oh my God, it was so confusing on the page,” she laughed. “You’re really directing eight performances with four actors. It’s super challenging, but they made it look easy.”

Regarding a potential Freakier Friday 3, Ganatra hinted at a new twist.

“I think it’s time for the guys to swap. But to me, the joy of ‘Freakier Friday’ is the celebration of sisterhood and chosen family — just unapologetic female energy.”

Freakier Friday became available on October 7 on digital platforms like Amazon, Fandango, and Apple TV, and started streaming on Disney+ in November.
