New Toyota HiLux Leaked Ahead of Official Reveal

Toyota’s best-selling ute was leaked online just hours before its official unveiling, revealing a drastically updated look for the new generation model. Images posted on Instagram by bfmsoficial, taken from a video initially published and later removed by Auto Societies, have previewed the upcoming release.

The platform and cabin, from the A- to C-pillars, remain unchanged from the current model. However, the front design features slim headlights, a squared-off grille, and sharp edges, while the rear end has a tougher look complete with a “TOYOTA” stamped tailgate.

Variants and Powertrains

Several versions of the new HiLux, known as the HiLux Travo in Thailand, have been spotted. These include the ‘Prerunner’, ‘Overland’, ‘4Trex’, and what is believed to be an electric variant called the ‘Travo-e’.

Aside from the electric model, the other variants are expected to use a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, likely the carry-over ‘1GD-FTV’ engine prominent in the Australian HiLux lineup. This has been supported by Australian government approval documents.

Summary

The new Toyota HiLux refreshes its design with sharper, more angular features while retaining its proven platform and diesel engine options, alongside emerging electric possibilities.
