A McDonalds branch on Newmarket Road in Cambridge is once again requesting permission to extend its daily opening hours. The restaurant has already had two similar applications rejected.
The new proposal, submitted by Savills on behalf of McDonalds, asks for permission to open from 6am to 11pm every day, instead of the current schedule of 7am to 11pm. If approved, the restaurant would operate an extra hour in the morning.
“The extension is not considered to result in any unacceptable impact on surrounding residents,”
Savills noted that other establishments in the same area operate with different trading hours.
“For example, Papa Johns is open until 3am each day of the week. This application simply seeks to extend the trading hours by an additional hour from that which is currently approved.”
According to Savills, no complaints have been received regarding the restaurant’s current schedule. The company believes the proposed change is acceptable and highlights that the early morning period accounts for a significant portion of the restaurant’s customers, offering economic advantages to the area.
The McDonalds branch on Cambridge’s Newmarket Road seeks approval to open an hour earlier, with Savills arguing the change would have minimal community impact.
