Paul Rodgers announced on social media that he will neither perform nor attend Bad Company's upcoming Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony scheduled for November.
"My hope was to be at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony and to perform for the fans, but at this time I have to prioritize my health."
He explained that singing is not an issue, but the overall stress related to the event makes it difficult. Rodgers added that drummer Simon Kirke and some outstanding musicians will perform in his place, promising a great show.
Earlier in the month, Rodgers had told Rolling Stone that Bad Company might perform at the ceremony. He said, "Well, they want us to, and I may," and mentioned the possibility of singing "Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy." He also expressed some apprehension about making a speech but felt he could manage it.
"If we've got to make a speech, I'll be quite honest, I'm not used to really making speeches of any nature, but I'll be ok."
According to Rolling Stone, Paul Rodgers has suffered 11 minor strokes and two major strokes over the past decade. These health issues forced him to relearn how to walk and talk.
"I've spoken to people that are in wheelchairs after a stroke. It's not a pretty thing to go through."
Despite these challenges, Rodgers confirmed significant improvement, stating, "I feel good."
Due to health concerns following multiple strokes, Paul Rodgers will not attend or perform at Bad Company's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, with the band’s drummer and other musicians stepping in for him.
