Roar striker intent on showing ‘quality’ against old club

Roar Striker Ready to Prove His Quality Against Former Club

Brisbane striker Justin Vidic insists he does not have anything to prove to his former club Newcastle, but he is determined to demonstrate his "quality" after being released by the Jets last season.

Career Background

Vidic, 21, spent two years with Newcastle, scoring just one goal in 13 A-League games, mostly as a substitute. When Mark Milligan replaced Robbie Stanton as Jets coach, Vidic was not offered a new contract.

New Opportunities at Brisbane Roar

Faced with uncertainty in his professional career, Vidic seized the chance to trial at Brisbane Roar. His diligent, traditional playing style aligns well with coach Michael Valkanis’s straightforward and physical tactics, earning him a two-year deal.

“These things happen for a reason. I’m sure I’ll show my quality. I don’t think I have anything to prove to them. They know what I’m capable of, and there are lots of people at the club that I still speak to and that I’m still close to. They know my potential and I want to show them that on Sunday.”

Current Season Form

Vidic has started two of Brisbane’s three matches this season and scored his first goal for the club in a 2-1 loss to Wellington last month.

“Starting in our past two games has been good for me.”

Author’s summary: Justin Vidic aims to display his true potential against Newcastle, proving his worth after a challenging start to his professional career.
