Timothee Chalamet disappointed not to win Oscar

Timothée Chalamet disappointed by Oscar loss

Timothée Chalamet openly admitted he felt disappointed after missing out on the Best Actor Oscar this year. The 29-year-old actor was nominated for portraying Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, but the award went to Adrien Brody for his role in The Brutalist.

Chalamet, previously nominated in 2017 for Call Me by Your Name but bested then by Gary Oldman, shared his honest reaction in an interview with Vogue.

“If there’s five people at an awards show, and four people go home losing, you don’t think those four people are at the restaurant like, ‘Damn, we didn’t win?’ I’ve been around some really humble actors, maybe some of them are going, ‘That was fun.’ But I know a lot are going, ‘F***.’ People can call me a try-hard, they can say whatever. But I’m the one actually doing it.”

Despite his Oscar disappointment, Chalamet won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Leading Actor for the same role. On stage, he reflected on the depth of his commitment to the project and his artistic ambition.

“I know the classiest thing would be to downplay the effort that went into this role and how much it means to me, but the truth is, this was five and a half years of my life. I poured everything I had into playing this incomparable artist.”
