Elizabeth Olsen Says She Stays Grounded by Journaling Every Morning: 'It's Really Helpful' (Exclusive)

Elizabeth Olsen on Staying Grounded Through Journaling

At the November 5 Los Angeles screening of her new romantic fantasy film Eternity, actress and producer Elizabeth Olsen shared how daily journaling keeps her centered amid a demanding career.

Morning Ritual of Reflection

For the past three years, Olsen has begun each morning with pen and paper, finding calm in this simple habit. She explained that the act of writing slows her thoughts and provides clarity before the day begins.

“You slow down your thoughts, I think, when you start writing by hand,” said Olsen. “Sometimes it's just what happened yesterday. Sometimes it's about what I'm reading. It’s kind of everything.”

Creative Benefits and Personal Balance

Olsen noted that journaling not only supports her well-being but also helps her creatively. She keeps multiple journals, including one devoted exclusively to her professional work and character development.

“It's really helpful for work,” she said. “I have three different journals. I have a work journal that's separate for creating a character.”

Support and Inspiration

At the screening, Olsen was joined by her husband, musician and writer Robbie Arnett. The couple’s appearance reflected the supportive partnership that complements her steady personal rituals.
