After a tough 31-10 road loss to undefeated Harvard, Dartmouth football prepares to face the Princeton Tigers in a challenging game this Saturday. Despite the defeat, the Big Green showed resilience, especially in the third quarter, signaling potential for improvement.
“We came out of halftime and really battled and put ourselves right back in the game,” head coach Sammy McCorkle said. “But they just out-executed us and we didn’t make enough plays when we did get that momentum going … We talked about it at halftime. Just go out there and take one play at a time, and let’s make sure we just do what we do. I think we did that in the third quarter.”
Chris Corbo ’26, 2024 All-Ivy First Team tight end, reflected on the team’s offensive performance against Harvard:
“We showed that when we play at our best we can execute against anyone. We came out of halftime with a purpose.”
Defensive end Joshua Johnson ’27 highlighted the defense's increased pressure on Harvard’s quarterback, expressing hope to maintain that level of performance against Princeton:
“With that game, specifically the pressure, we continued to put on the quarterback [which] was a huge thing.”
The Big Green aims to build on these positives in their upcoming face-off with Princeton, striving to regain momentum and secure a win.
Summary: Dartmouth’s football team is focused on redeeming themselves after a hard-fought loss to Harvard, emphasizing improved execution and defensive pressure as keys to success against Princeton.
