Namma Metro Phase 3: BMRCL to Invite Tenders for JP Nagar–Kempapura Corridor

Bengaluru’s Namma Metro Phase 3 is finally gaining traction after months of delays. The new corridor between JP Nagar and Kempapura will introduce India's first double-decker metro structure, marking a significant milestone in urban transport infrastructure.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) announced plans to invite tenders for constructing the 28.4-kilometre line connecting JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura in Hebbal, as reported by Bangalore Mirror. Although central approval was granted nearly a year ago, tendering was repeatedly deferred, causing frustration among residents.

Officials explained that the primary reason for the delay was the intricate double-decker viaduct design, which integrates a metro track and a flyover within a single structure.

With the detailed design now finalized, BMRCL is moving toward the execution stage. The large-scale project will be divided into ten construction packages, each including viaducts, stations, and depots.

Route and Key Localities

The corridor will include 30 metro stations, featuring seven interchange points linking existing and future metro lines, enhancing overall connectivity across Bengaluru.
