Gold Coast, November 4 — As India prepares to face Australia at the Gold Coast Stadium, anticipation grows about what the venue will offer for both sides. This will mark the first appearance of the Indian Men’s team at the ground, adding extra excitement to the match.
The Gold Coast Stadium, also called People First Stadium, is still new to international cricket. It has hosted only two men’s T20Is, three women’s T20Is, and one women’s Test. The venue is better known for AFL games but is gaining attention for its scenic location and improving cricket facilities.
Australian spinner Matt Kuhnemann, a local Queenslander, expressed his delight at playing an international game at home. He described both the beauty and the competitive conditions of the venue, emphasizing his eagerness to perform well before friends and family.
“The wicket gets better and better every year so I’m expecting a nice wicket and a high-scoring game.”
“I love playing here and it’s always good to get back and see friends and family.”
Kuhnemann also highlighted the growing cricket culture of the region, noting that the Gold Coast is becoming a sporting hub with an increasing population and emerging talent.
“I think the Gold Coast is such a hot spot in Australia at the moment. The population is growing rapidly and we’ve produced some good cricketers this year — the more games, the better.”
The Gold Coast Stadium readies for its first India-Australia men’s fixture, as local spinner Matt Kuhnemann admires the evolving pitch and celebrates his home-ground debut in style.
