The T20 World Cup, one of cricket’s most anticipated events, is just a few months away. As defending champions, India enters the tournament as strong favorites, thanks to their well-balanced squad.
Former Indian cricketer R. Ashwin revealed two players opponents will most fear in India’s T20 World Cup lineup: Abhishek Sharma and Varun Chakravarthy. Notably, Jasprit Bumrah was not included in Ashwin’s list.
"So far, I was saying that handling Jasprit Bumrah is critical, but I would now say, from what I have seen, Tim David handled Varun Chakravarthy. I am thinking teams will go for Abhishek Sharma and Varun Chakravarthy if they have to get past India."
Ashwin further explained that opposing teams will surely devise strategies against these two players during the upcoming series, as it serves as preparation for the World Cup.
"Against Abhishek Sharma, we will definitely see in this series the plan that is made, and they will definitely invite that. Whatever teams are coming, they will come prepared for the World Cup. Similarly, against Varun Chakravarthy, because that will give them leverage in that T20 World Cup."
R. Ashwin highlights Abhishek Sharma and Varun Chakravarthy as the key players feared by opponents, suggesting teams will prioritize strategies against them in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup.
