Asia Pacific Tourism Nearing Full Recovery, Reaching 295.7 Million in the First Half of 2025
The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has released its Annual Tourism Monitor 2025, showcasing a strong rebound in international visitor arrivals (IVAs) across the Asia Pacific region.
According to the report, IVAs in 2024 totaled 647.9 million across 46 destinations, up by 24.1% from the previous year and achieving a 91.9% recovery rate compared with pre-pandemic 2019 levels.
For the first half of 2025, provisional figures show that destinations in the region recorded 295.7 million IVAs, reflecting a 5.4% year-on-year growth and a 92.6% recovery compared with 2019 data. Experts expect this positive trend to continue through the remainder of 2025 as the region moves toward stable and consistent growth.
Regional Performance Breakdown
- Asia: 470.9 million IVAs in 2024, making up 72.7% of the region’s total and representing a 30.7% annual increase.
- Americas: 153.0 million IVAs, or 23.6% of the total, up 9.7% year-on-year.
- Pacific: 24.0 million IVAs, or 3.7% of the total, up 6.9% from the previous year.
Top-Performing Destinations
- China: Over 127 million visitors, accounting for 19.7% of the Asia Pacific total.
- USA: More than 72 million international arrivals, representing 11.2% of the regional share.
PATA noted that “the Asia Pacific region continues to demonstrate exceptional recovery momentum, positioning itself for sustainable growth in international tourism.”
