After two decades as the beloved weather presenter for 9News Melbourne, Livinia Nixon has announced she will step down from this role while continuing her other engagements with Nine.

Career and Decision

Livinia Nixon joined the Nine Network in 1997 and took on the 9News Melbourne weather presenting role in 2004. She revealed her decision to leave the nightly weather bulletin as her sons move into their senior school years.

“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them,” Nixon said.

Her final weather broadcast is scheduled for Tuesday, 18 November.

Continuing Roles

Although stepping back from weather presenting, Livinia will remain on air through her roles on Nine’s travel shows, Getaway and Postcards.

“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,” she said.

“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’ I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”
