9News Melbourne will say goodbye to one of its most beloved stars this November. Weather presenter Livinia Nixon, aged 50, will step down on November 18 after over two decades at the network.
Livinia Nixon joined the network in 1997 and has been the face of 9News Melbourne's weather segment since 2004. Her presence has made her a familiar and trusted figure in the homes of viewers.
On Friday, Livinia surprised fans by announcing her decision to leave her weather role to prioritize her family, especially as her sons begin their high school years.
"After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I've decided to step back from this role," Livinia said. "My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It's been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers' homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family."
"Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me," she added. "When I discussed it with our boys, they said, 'We're pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.'"
Although Livinia will depart from her weeknight weather presenter role, she will remain part of the Nine Network.
Summary: After more than 20 years at 9News Melbourne, Livinia Nixon steps down to focus on family as her sons enter high school, while continuing her association with the Nine Network.
