Livinia Nixon takes bright long-range outlook with her on new chapter

Livinia Nixon Embraces a Bright New Chapter

Beloved Australian weather presenter Livinia Nixon, who first appeared on-screen with Hey Hey, It’s Saturday, is concluding her long tenure as Nine’s evening weather presenter after two decades on air.

“I’ve been on air for more of my life than I’ve not,” she shared with a laugh. “I’m looking forward to a breather.”

Although stepping away from her nightly weather duties, Nixon, 50, will remain part of the Nine Network lineup through travel programs Getaway and Postcards.

A Thoughtful Decision

Nixon explained that her choice to finish her weekday forecasts was guided by a desire to spend more time with family. Her youngest son, Ted, is entering high school, joining older brother Henry.

“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything, but this is the right decision for me,” she said.

When she told her sons about her decision, Nixon recalled with affection,

“They said, ‘We’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”

Memorable Moments

Among her most unforgettable live weather segments was one filmed at Healesville Sanctuary, during which a green tree python wrapped itself around her neck.

“It squeezed and started to slither inside my jacket — I’d never read the weather so fast in my life,” she remembered.
