Former NFL star Antonio Brown has been extradited from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to the United States to stand trial for an attempted murder related to a shooting outside a Miami boxing event earlier this year, according to Miami police.
Police confirmed on Thursday afternoon that Brown, 37, is currently held in Essex County, New Jersey, while awaiting transfer to Miami-Dade County. The exact timeline of his apprehension and upcoming transport remains undisclosed.
“This is just another example of the relentless work and dedication of Miami Police detectives, working closely with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office and U.S. Marshals to identify and arrest those who commit crimes in the City of Miami,”
Brown faces an attempted murder charge following a May 16 altercation at a boxing event hosted by influencer Adin Ross. His social media posts suggest he had been residing in Dubai for several months before being taken into custody.
A warrant was issued for Brown’s arrest in June. At that time, his attorney secured a $10,000 bond and house arrest conditions, but Brown failed to surrender voluntarily. Police had not previously confirmed if extradition would be pursued.
Antonio Brown was extradited from Dubai to face attempted murder charges in Miami after months abroad, marking another high-profile legal escalation for the former NFL player.
