Ex-NFL Star Antonio Brown Extradited to Miami in Attempted Murder Case

Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is being extradited to Miami to face charges of attempted murder related to a shooting incident outside a celebrity boxing event in May, according to authorities.

Details of Extradition

Miami Police confirmed on Thursday that 37-year-old Brown was extradited from Dubai to Miami. The U.S. Marshals Service reported that Brown arrived from Dubai via Newark, New Jersey, and was booked into Essex County Jail the same day.

Brown’s Behavior While on the Run

During his time evading capture, Brown posted videos from Dubai that appeared to taunt law enforcement. Miami Police spokesperson Michael Vega stated:

“He was kind of taunting us, saying, I'm safe here, and that's what we interpreted from those videos, but you know what, he was laughing then, we're getting the last laugh.”

Vega added, “No matter who you are, what power or what money you have, if you commit a crime in the city of Miami, we're going to identify and locate you and bring you to justice.”

Background of the Case

A warrant was issued in June charging Brown with attempted murder with a firearm for a shooting on May 16 near Northeast 2nd Avenue and 67th Street, outside the boxing event venue.

An off-duty officer, working event security at the time, told investigators he left the venue after hearing gunfire and witnessed Brown physically fighting another person in the parking lot, according to the warrant.

Summary

Antonio Brown’s extradition marks a key step in holding him accountable for the May shooting, with Miami authorities emphasizing that no one is above the law.
