Director and executive producer Shawn Levy described some claims from a viral report as “wildly inaccurate.” The report alleged that Millie Bobby Brown accused co-star David Harbour of on-set bullying and harassment.
Despite the allegations, Brown and Harbour appeared together, smiling, at the season five world premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday evening.
When asked about the bullying allegations on the red carpet, co-creator Ross Duffer said:
“Obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal on-set matters, but I will say we’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them. So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”
At the premiere, Shawn Levy was also questioned about handling bullying complaints during production. He responded:
“At the end of the day, that’s the job. You have to create a respectful workplace where everyone feels comfortable and safe, and so we did everything to build that environment. And we’re proud of the fact that we did so.”
The Stranger Things press tour has been ongoing since Monday, but Netflix has avoided discussing the viral report publicly.
Summary: The Duffer Brothers and Shawn Levy emphasize their commitment to a safe, respectful set environment amid bullying allegations between co-stars on Stranger Things.
