Chicago weather: Rain returns late this week along with a strong cold front

Chicago Weather Forecast: Rain Returns with Strong Cold Front

Chicago enjoyed another beautiful fall day with temperatures reaching the low to mid-60s under mostly sunny skies, about 5 to 10 degrees above the November 4 average high of 54 degrees.

Tonight's Weather

Chief Meteorologist Emily Wahls reports that tonight will be mostly clear, mild, and breezy. Southwest winds will increase to 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph. Low temperatures will stay in the lower 50s.

Wednesday's Outlook

Thursday and Friday

More clouds will arrive Thursday ahead of rain showers late Thursday night into Friday. Thursday's highs will reach the mid to upper 50s. Friday will start with rain but gradually dry out during the day with temperatures warming into the low to mid 60s.

Weekend Cold Front

A strong cold front will bring cooler air this weekend. Saturday's temperatures will peak near 50 degrees, with scattered rain showers possible and the chance of rain mixing with snow as temperatures drop.

“Following our cold front late this week, we’ll watch for scattered rain showers and a potential mix with snow as cooler air arrives,” says Emily Wahls.

Prepare for a sharp temperature drop and increasingly chilly conditions by early next week.

Summary: Chicago will shift from a mild, sunny week to cooler, wet conditions with a strong cold front bringing rain, gusty winds, and potential snow mix by the weekend.
