Nearly 50 children have been hospitalised in Budapest under suspicion of mass food poisoning, mainly from nurseries and schools in the 13th district.
The Heim Pál National Paediatric Institute confirmed the children were admitted with vomiting, diarrhoea, and dehydration. Several required intravenous treatment. All affected children are currently in stable condition, and medical care is ongoing without interruption.
By Thursday afternoon and evening, many parents reported their children fell ill after consuming school or nursery lunches. According to Telex, one of the affected places could be the Futár Street nursery in the 13th district, though children from other districts showed similar symptoms.
“My son began vomiting during the night. We replenished lost fluids at home, so he didn’t need hospital treatment, but several of his classmates were admitted to Heim Pál hospital,” said Judit, a concerned parent.
The hospital reassured parents:
“Our doctors and nurses are doing everything to ensure the children recover as quickly as possible.”Experts emphasize that dehydration is especially risky in young children.
The hospital maintains that the situation is under control. Medical staff continues monitoring and treating all affected children.
