Look Up! Aurora Australis Might Be Visible from Melbourne Tonight

Here is everything known about spotting the Aurora Australis, also called the Southern Lights, from Victoria tonight.

Aurora Alert from ASWFC

Following last night’s supermoon, the Australian Space Weather Forecasting Centre (ASWFC) has issued an alert about an ongoing geomagnetic storm. According to the alert, the “Aurora may be observed during local nighttime hours in good observing conditions at high latitudes.”

The last alert by ASWFC on October 30 led to sightings around midnight across Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales, and South Australia.

What to Expect

The Aurora Australis is a breathtaking natural light display, much like its northern counterpart, the Aurora Borealis. It is a sought-after phenomenon admired worldwide.

Only those who have witnessed the Northern Lights with their naked eyes can truly understand its ethereal magic.

For those in Victoria, if weather and light conditions cooperate, tonight could bring a rare chance to see this mesmerizing sight.
