Jennifer Lawrence announced that the upcoming film What Happens at Night, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is planned to begin shooting in 2026.
This movie will be the 27th feature-length project in Scorsese’s career. It centers on an American couple who visit a snowy European city with the hope of adopting a baby, only to face a series of mysterious and unusual events.
The story is adapted from Peter Cameron’s 2020 novel of the same name. The book's synopsis describes the couple’s encounters with a range of peculiar characters, including “an ancient, flamboyant chanteuse,” “a debauched businessman,” and “an enigmatic faith healer.”
“Nothing is as it seems in this baffling, frozen world, and the more the couple struggles to claim their baby, the less they seem to know about their marriage, themselves, and life itself.”
“Hopefully, a January/February situation. But one never knows with these things. I’ll believe it when I’m there.”
Author’s summary: Jennifer Lawrence excitedly reveals that Martin Scorsese’s next film, featuring mysterious events in a snowy European setting, will begin filming in early 2026 with her and DiCaprio leading.
