A White House press conference on Thursday was briefly interrupted when a man fainted in the Oval Office during President Donald Trump’s announcement about an agreement with pharmaceutical companies to lower the cost of obesity drugs.
Video of the incident quickly spread online. Independent journalist Eric Daugherty shared the clip, writing:
“A man just passed out during President Trump’s Oval Office announcement. Oz sprung into action and assisted him.”
He later added:
“Pray for him.”
Social media users joined in expressing concern and offering prayers as the live feed ended abruptly. Some posts identified the man as Gordon Findlay, allegedly an executive from Novo Nordisk.
One viral claim stated:
“BREAKING: Novo Nordisk executive Gordon Findlay collapses during Trump's announcement in Oval Office, announcement suspended.”
However, Novo Nordisk officially denied the claim, clarifying in a statement to Newsweek:
“CEO Mike Doustdar and EVP, US Operations, Dave Moore were the only two Novo Nordisk representatives in the Oval Office. We hope the gentleman who suffered a medical incident today is okay.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also commented on the situation, explaining:
“During the Most Favored Nations Oval Office announcement, a representative with one of the companies fainted.”
The White House clarified that the man who fainted during President Trump’s Oval Office announcement was not a Novo Nordisk executive, despite online rumors naming Gordon Findlay.
