Two key Socceroos players return for friendlies against Venezuela and Colombia, along with a teenage sensation making his senior debut.
Seventeen-year-old James Overy from Manchester United has been named in the senior Socceroos squad for the first time. Veterans Jackson Irvine and Riley McGree are also included after recovering from injury.
"Overy, who turns 18 this weekend, has earned his first senior call-up ahead of games against Venezuela and Colombia, having impressed with the Young Socceroos at the U20 World Cup."
Overy, a Perth-born right-back, recently signed his first professional contract with Manchester United. He previously represented Scotland at under-19 level before committing to Australia.
Coach Tony Popovic plans to select broadly due to injuries to Alessandro Circati, Jordy Bos, Jacob Italiano, and Aziz Behich.
Irvine and McGree make their much-anticipated returns from foot injuries. Adelaide United captain Craig Goodwin is the only tested A-League Men player included in the squad.
"Soccer coach Tony Popovic has indicated he will cast his selection net wide, while injuries also forced his hand."
