Elder Gérald Caussé was born on May 20, 1963, in Bordeaux, France. His faith was rooted early, as his parents were baptized when he was only six months old, shaping his lifelong dedication to the Gospel. After a year of military service, he moved to Paris and married Valérie Babin, a childhood friend, in the Bern Switzerland Temple in 1986. They have five children and have managed frequent relocations alongside their Church responsibilities.
Elder Caussé’s leadership journey includes serving as a General Authority Seventy from 2008 to 2012, followed by a role as counselor in the Presiding Bishopric from 2012 to 2015. He then served as the Church's Presiding Bishop for 11 years, becoming the first non-native English speaker to hold this position.
