236cm Teenager Becomes Tallest-Ever US College Basketball Player
Canada’s Olivier Rioux, standing at 236 cm, stunned fans during his debut for the University of Florida, officially becoming the tallest person ever to play college basketball in the United States. His entrance late in the game drew roaring applause as Florida triumphed over North Florida.
At just 19 years old, Rioux stands five centimeters taller than both Gheorghe Mureșan and Manute Bol, who share the record as the tallest players in NBA history. The Florida crowd erupted with chants of “We Want Ollie” throughout the O'Connell Center until head coach Todd Golden finally subbed him in during the final minutes.
