Former India batter Robin Uthappa shared his thoughts on Jasprit Bumrah’s performance, noting that the pacer can lose his rhythm when he becomes too eager to take wickets. Uthappa commented on Bumrah’s spell during India’s T20 match against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), highlighting that his usually composed demeanor seemed slightly off.
Speaking on Star Sports, Uthappa emphasized that Bumrah’s disciplined approach tends to waver when he pushes too hard for success, which was evident in India’s second T20I defense of a modest total of 125 runs.
“When we were bowling after scoring 125, the start was very important. If we had picked up two or three wickets in the first few overs, the game could have been closer because we have quality spinners in the middle overs. I felt we were probably trying too hard to pick up wickets. So we got a little wayward,” Uthappa said.
India’s innings ended at 125, and Australia comfortably chased the target in under 14 overs to claim a 1-0 lead. Despite Bumrah taking two wickets for 26 runs in his four-over spell, Uthappa noted that he seemed slightly unsettled and not at his usual best.
Robin Uthappa observed that Jasprit Bumrah’s control and rhythm falter when he becomes overly determined to claim wickets, as seen in the MCG T20I against Australia.
