SAN ANTONIO – Spurs forward Julian Champagnie swapped his jersey for a Scooby-Doo costume this Halloween to surprise young patients at Methodist Children’s Hospital. Accompanied by the Spurs' mascot Coyote, Champagnie handed out candy, posed for photos, and spent time chatting with children, spreading smiles during the hospital’s festive celebration.
Each Halloween, Methodist Children’s Hospital transforms with unique themes and elaborate decorations. The staff dress in costumes to match the occasion, and leadership participates in reverse trick-or-treating, visiting rooms to distribute treats to patients.
This year’s event was enhanced by Champagnie's visit and the presence of the hospital’s Emergency Services Facility Dogs: Lady, Fresca, and Chanel. They were dressed as a surgeon, witch, and spider, adding extra joy to the celebrations.
"I didn’t make a wish, but it felt like one. It was inspirational to see the actual walking dream. I didn’t think I was this special, but he made me feel like I was," said Jamal Magee, a patient. He also expressed gratitude, saying, "I appreciate the hospital for giving me this opportunity."
