Erika Kirk, widow of US conservative activist and Israel supporter Charlie Kirk, will accept a public diplomacy award on his behalf at the Christian Media Summit in Jerusalem this week, the Government Press Office (GPO) announced.
Israel is hosting more than 100 influential Christian leaders and media representatives at the event. The summit includes an award ceremony honoring participants for their “exceptional contribution” to Israeli public diplomacy worldwide. The GPO is organizing the four-day summit together with the Foreign Ministry and the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
Four months before his assassination at a US college campus in September, Charlie Kirk wrote to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He criticized Israel’s social media strategies, suggested improvements for its public diplomacy, and offered to meet with the prime minister to discuss these issues.
The summit occurs amid an ongoing debate among US conservatives concerning antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiments within their ranks.
“Over 100 representatives of leading Christian media outlets, opinion leaders, religious figures, and heads of organizations from various countries” are expected to attend the summit.
Charlie Kirk wrote a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recommending ways for Israel to improve its public diplomacy.
